Safety Town 2018

Like the older 3 kids before then, Emma and Irene went through Greensboro's Safety Town class. Of course, they loved it every bit as much as the previous kids, learning about all kids of safety: animals, cars, bicycles, fires, etc. They loved getting to ride the "cars" through the little town and getting to meet the policemen and women who were there each day.

Unfortunately, there was a lot of rain during their classes, so I wasn't able to get any pictures during the week, but they participated in the graduation ceremony.

Salem Lake - August 2018

Rebecca and I went back to ride around Salem Lake again. We just had a series of storms roll through and the weather afterwards has been unseasonable cool and nice, so why not take advantage of it?

What we were surprised about was that the storms had caused a bit of damage around the trail. There were several trees down that needed to be cleared away. Some were easy to lift the bikes over,
but others were more difficult.
Some were on the verge of going over into the lake, but hadn't fallen all the way yet.
The ones who were most happy about the new logs in the lake were the turtles who were using them to sunbathe!

Camp Mashiach 2018

For a couple of years, our church, Valley of Blessing, has sent teenagers and adults (as staff and counselors) to a messianic summer camp called Camp Mashiach. It's an amazing place with pastors and tribe leaders that share our beliefs and values. There they teach all kinds of valuable lessons to the kids on matters of faith, personal growth, teamwork, worship and other important topics. The best part is that they manage to do all this serious work in a way that's engaging and fun for the teens.

They do it through games,
activities,

bible studies,
skits and songs,
and fellowship.
This year, Rebecca went along as the Camp's Head Nurse, making sure all the campers were safe and well-cared for in the event of injuries. No question that they were in good hands there!

Rebecca and Olivia came back and told me in no uncertain terms that I had to come next year so I could experience it for myself!
