Cookies for Firefighters - AHG Service Project 2019

Just like last year, Rebecca helped her Pathfinder girls do a sweet service project: bake cookies for firefighters. This year, Irene was in the group to help. They baked a couple dozen cookies and took them to the nearest fire station.

The guys were so excited to spend time withthe girls and show them the gear and the trucks.
And, of course, they were very happy with the cookies that came with them!

All in Just One Cookie!

We did a really fun book called "All in Just One Cookie" last week. It talks about each ingredient in the recipe and whee the ingredients generally come from, like milk from cows in Vermont, vanilla from beans in Madagascar, sugar from Hawaii, etc. As a project, we went and picked up some of the ingredients that they don't get to see much in their raw form.

We grabbed some wheat berries and ground them up in our Vitamix.
We picked up some sugar cane and let them taste it raw.

Emma was the only one who actually liked it that way. :)
Of course, they already know where their eggs and milk come from, so that wasn't too difficult.

Then we baked up the cookies and boy, were they good! :)

Introducing the kids to No-Bakes

Rebecca's earliest memories of making cookies by herself were of making No-Bakes. To pass on that tradition, she wanted to teach the kids how to make them. They are fun, easy and oh so yummy.

Our "inside-out" boy. He consistently dresses himself with his shirt (or underwear) on backwards and/or inside-out while insisting that it's right.

Rebecca helped Gabe scoop his...

...and Ezra refused help and dug right in.

Making Cookies with Aunt Kelly

Rebecca's Aunt Kelly gave Olivia a great gift for Christmas. She gave her a bunch of cookie cutters, a gingerbread man apron, cookie decorating stuff and a promise to come up and bake cookies with her! She came up this past Saturday and helped Miss O make some delicious Christmas cookies. Olivia had such a fun time! Unfortunately, we didn't think to grab the camera until things were being cleaned up.
