Baby Penguins at the SciQuarium

Last week, The Greensboro Science Center's Sciquarium introduced 5 baby penguins into their flock. They are nearly full size, but still don't have their full markings yet. They are more gray than black and don't have the stark neck band that the adults have.

 One came to visit with Gabe.

 Of course, no visit to the Sciquarium is complete without spending a few minutes at the big tank. Irene, like the rest of the kids, just loves to watch and point and squeal when the fish get close.

Especially the sharks. :)

Baby Otters!

The Greensboro Natural Science Center's SciQuarium recently introduced 5 baby otters that were born a couple of months ago. We managed (after a couple of missed attempts) to get there in time to see them. They are only in the habitat until 1:30pm daily, but we usually don't go until later in the day to avoid the school groups. It was worth braving the crowds to get to see them! They were so very cute and playful, running and wrestling with each other and exploring the "new" world around them. 

Hands On Human Body Learning

We have been enjoying the human body exhibits at the Greensboro Science Center and SciWorks in Winston Salem. It is nice to have hands on learning to go with our study of the human body this school year. 

Carolina Sciquarium

This has been a favorite place for us to go hang out and spend time. It provides lots of entertainment for the kids and yet it is a relaxing sort of place to hang out. The kids love every display but I would say that they spend most of their time at the Stingray exhibit trying to touch the Rays or at the large tank of the Shark Reef exhibit.

Okay, so maybe all the animals and aquarium-like exhibits took a back seat once the boys discovered this airplane. Why is it there? I don't know. But Ezra found it right away and announced that he would spend his time there. :) There is no denying what the boy likes. 

Science Center visit with Aunt DD and Cousins Max and Vivi

We had a great time visiting the Science Center today. It was the company that made it though. :) I just love my sweet SIL and my niece and nephew. I really enjoy watching the kids run around and play.
